Mobile Crane Operator

The Mobile Crane Operator Course is designed to prepare individuals for success on the CCO Certification Exams by building both knowledge and practical understanding. Participants will develop the ability to plan and organize lifting operations, apply relevant laws and regulations, evaluate whether equipment is appropriate for a given task, and carry out proper setup and positioning procedures. The program also emphasizes best practices for maintaining safety with the crane, the load, and the surrounding work environment.

The CCO Written Specialty Examinations are:

  • Lattice Boom Cranes (LAT)
  • Telescopic Boom Cranes—Swing Cab (TLL)
  • Telescopic Boom Cranes—Fixed Cab (TSS)

Eligibility

Requirements for the Mobile Crane Operator certification include the following:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Comply with CCO’s Substance Abuse Policy
  • Pass Written Examinations (Core and at least one Specialty)
  • Pass Practical Examination(s)—Candidates must pass the Practical exam within twelve months of passing the written examination
  • Comply with the CCO's Code of Ethics
